- Astrobiology
- Brings together research scientists from around the world to
advance our understanding of life's origin, evolution, distribution,
and destiny in the universe. This international journal provides
a forum for those scientists who define the future of astrobiology.
- Biogeochemistry
- Biogeochemistry publishes original papers and occasional reviews dealing with
biotic controls on the chemistry of the environment, or with the geochemical control
of the structure and function of ecosystems. Cycles are considered, either of individual
elements or of specific classes of natural or anthropogenic compounds in ecosystems.
Particular emphasis is laid on the interactions of element cycles. Global aspects
of biogeochemistry are covered in the form of work on the global carbon and sulfur
cycles, for instance, and studies on both natural and artificial ecosystems are
published when they contribute to a general understanding of biogeochemistry.
- Biogeosciences
- An open access international scientific journal, published by EGU, dedicated
to the publication and discussion of research articles, short
communications and review papers on all aspects of the interactions
between the biological, chemical and physical processes in terrestrial
or extraterrestrial life with the geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere.
The objective of the journal is to cut across the boundaries of
established sciences and achieve an interdisciplinary view of
these interactions. Experimental, conceptual and modelling approaches
are welcome.
- Environmental Microbiology
- Environmental Microbiology provides a high profile vehicle for publication of the most innovative, original and rigorous research in the field. The scope of the Journal encompasses the diversity of current research on microbial processes in the environment, microbial communities and microbial interactions.
- Geobiology
- Aims to provide a natural home for geobiological research. Explores
the relationship between life and the Earth's physical and chemical
environment.
- Geomicrobiology
Journal
- Presents research and review articles in this rapidly growing
field. Articles deal with microbial transformations of materials
composing the earth's crust, including oceans, seas, lakes, bottom
sediments, soils, mineral deposits, and rocks, and the geological
impact these transformations have to present or have had over
geologic time.
- Global Biogeochemical Cycles
- Global Biogeochemical Cycles includes papers in the broad
areas of global change involving the geosphere and biosphere.
Marine, hydrologic, atmospheric, extraterrestrial, geologic, biologic,
and human causes of and response to environmental change on timescales
of tens, thousands, and millions of years are the purview of the journal.
- Journal of Geophysical Research - Biogeosciences
- This new section of JGR will focus on biogeosciences of the Earth system in the past, present, and future and its applicability to planetary
studies. The emerging field of "biogeosciences" spans the intellectual interface between biology and the geosciences and attempts to understand the
functions of the Earth system across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Studies in biogeosciences may employ multiple lines of evidence drawn from
diverse fields to gain a holistic understanding of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems and extreme environments. Specific topics within the
scope of the new JGR section include process-based studies of biogeochemistry, biogeophysics and global change, life in extreme environments, astrobiology,
microbial processes, and evolutionary geobiology.
- Virtual Journal
of Geobiology (online only)
- Lists articles with a geobiological component recently published
in a wide range of Elsevier Science journals. The articles are
selected on the basis of their potential to highlight interesting
and important developments in the area of geobiology.
